Our Mission

Financial Services, as an operating unit of the Finance & Support Services Division, is an administrative support department dedicated to ensuring the fiscal integrity of Texas State University-San Marcos and to providing superior financial services to senior administrators, faculty, principle investigators, account managers, and other administrators. It is our goal to facilitate compliance with federal, state, system, university, and regulatory organizations while providing superior financial services to the academic, research, auxiliary, student service, and public outreach organizations of the university. Financial Services policies, processes, procedures, administrative computing systems, and structures are designed to support to support the University’s mission, goals, and priorities.

Financial Services provides general accounting, financial reporting, decision support, payroll, procurement, contracting, materials management and regulatory support services. Financial Services represents the university as a designated liaison with: state, federal, and sponsored program auditors; the internal auditor; and regulatory agencies in matters related to financial service issues and operations. We strive to execute our responsibility to the campus community by maintaining a high degree of professionalism, business / financial ethics, and respect for all members of the campus community.

Financial Services, as an operating unit of the Finance & Support Services Division, endeavors to fully satisfy the Mission and Values of the Division.  Core values of Financial Services which serve as the foundation from which Financial Services provides support to the campus community include the following:

  • Maintain a high degree of integrity, professionalism, and business ethics,
  • Provide the campus community which the most timely, the most accurate, and highest quality financial services possible given the budget resources available,
  • Treat every member of the Financial Services team, the campus community, and all academic / research / student / auxiliary / business service / intercollegiate and public outreach departments with a high degree of respect and courtesy.
