Family and Consumer Sciences Renovation
Ms. Nusbaum reported President’s Cabinet approved the allocation of HEAF money for the renovation of the Family and Consumer Sciences building resulting from the efficiency study completed by Broaddus and Associates. The project will begin this summer.

Allocation of Space in Brazos
The Cabinet asked Dr. Moore, Ms. Nusbaum, and Ms. Prince to tour Brazos to determine if the UA Accountant could be housed there and accommodate Dr. Busby’s request for additional storage space. NOTE: CASETA will be allocated rooms 108, 109, 110, 111, and 112. University Advancement will be allocated room 104. Southwest Regional Humanities Center will be allocated room 107. The Center for Texas Music History will be allocated room 102A. The Research Center for River Recreation and Tourism will be allocated room 102.

The Fall 2006 Utilization of Instructional Space
The report (available on the web at http://www.vpfss.txstate.edu/spacemgt/Utilization/default.htm ) was provided to the Cabinet. As new classrooms are added with the construction of the Undergraduate Academic Center classrooms in different buildings should be considered for conversion to research space or offices.

Request for renovation of RFM 1236A
The Facilities Committee indicated support to renovated RFM 1236A as requested by the Physics Department. The Physics Department has funds for the renovation. Since the project should be less than $25,000, signatures are required from the Provost and the Vice President for Finance and Support Services. Completion of the project is needed this summer. Mr. Buhler pointed out there is currently a back log of project due to staffing turnover/changes within the office of Facilities Planning, Design and Construction.

Status of Forensics Anthropology Research Lab
Ms. Nusbaum reported an open (public) meeting was held on 4/11/07 to discuss the proposed location of the Forensic Anthropology Research Lab. The proposed site is the seventeen acres of land adjacent to the San Marcos Airport and Traffic Safety Center off Texas Highway 21. The entire seventeen acres would be secured with a razor-wire fence and a privacy fence and foliage will block the view of lab from the road. Environmental issues and concerns, such as water runoff, rodent/insects infestations and increased bird/coyote populations were addressed. Homeowners from the area were given an opportunity to express their concerns. The University will invest ~$250, 000 in the facility to build the fences, demolish what is left of an old greenhouse and rehabilitate a wood frame building on the property.

Report on Softball Team Locker Space
Currently, the Softball Team does not have a locker room. In order to aid the Athletics Department with NCAA recertification, the Department of Health, PE and Recreation has given the softball team temporary use of a locker room in Jowers Center until locker space can be built with the Baseball/Softball renovation project. Renovation will not be included in the Jowers Center renovation project but handled separately.

Status of First Floor Mail Services Space in JCK and Status of Third Floor ID Services Space in JCK
Allocation of the available space in JCK has been deferred until after the Texas Legislative session adjourns.

The Jowers Center renovation and the Student Recreation Center addition will start in June.

Renovation of the former Horticulture Center for the Forensic Anthropology lab will begin this summer if approvals from various agencies are received.

Concho Green and the N LBJ Street bus loop are currently being re-bid. The bus loop project will be returned to the Board of Regents. The first floor of the Pleasant Street Parking Garage will remain open during construction.

The Evans Parking Lot and Elliott Hall site were analyzed as potential building sites for the Undergraduate Academic Center. It was determined that the Evans Lot will work best. This project will include shelled space for the future South Chill Plant.
