Facilities Inventory Database

The purpose of the building and room inventory is to:

  • To maintain an up-to-date building and room inventory that is required by The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and state law. This information is used, in part, in calculating how much HEAF (Higher Education Assistance Fund) money Texas State gets annually and in calculating building replacement cost.
  • To provide space documentation required of the Federal Government for use in developing the university’s Facilities and Administrative Cost Rate.
  • To provide information for internal assessment of space allocations and utilization.
Facilities Inventory - Classification and Procedures Manual (PDF)
The primary purpose of this manual is to provide a uniform physical facilities coding system that prevails between higher education institutions in Texas and across the nation for data included in a building and room inventory. It provides a current and common framework for terms and definitions around which to compile data systems for physical facilities. The majority of the data codes are based on definitions and standards established by the National Center for Education Statistics, Postsecondary Education Facilities Inventory and Classification Manual, U. S. Department of Education, NCES 92-165, 1992, but some data codes are unique to Texas higher education institutions.
