The Fall 2008 Utilization of Instructional Space (pdf) report examines the scheduled use of the primary teaching facilities at Texas State University-San Marcos. Analyzing utilization rates help determine if a room is being scheduled to its maximum potential from a time management viewpoint. Weekly instructor-to-student contact hours are totaled for each specifically designated classroom and class lab identified in the University’s facilities inventory.
In addition, Student Station Occupancy rates (SSO) are calculated to help determine if a room is being used to its maximum potential from a seating capacity perspective. This report provides a room by room investigation of the course section data used by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) to ascertain the university’s overall utilization rates.
