Wastewater

The Wastewater/Pretreatment Program at Texas State University is designed to maintain compliance with environmental requirements and restrictions set forth by local, state, and federal agencies.

As an industrial user of the City of San Marcos Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW), the University is required to comply with discharge requirements outlined in the Industrial User Permit. Failure to comply with the permit may result in fines and civil actions against the University. In severe cases, criminal charges could be filed against responsible individuals.
