Radiation Safety


The radiation safety program at Texas State University encompasses a wide variety of areas. In each area the regulations, concerns, and controls associated with it are unique and should be understood and adhered to by all individuals associated with these areas.

All Principal Investigators (PIs) are to complete the following check-in list upon hire and assignment of university space at Texas State University-San Marcos.  PIs must ensure that they have an understanding of all university policies, procedures, and training requirements upon arrival to the university.

Closure_Form : Laboratory Closure Form (PDF, 127 KB)

All Principal Investigators (PIs) are to complete this checkout list and procedure no later than one week prior to the completion of their association with Texas State University-San Marcos.  PIs must assure that all hazardous chemical, biological, Class IIIB and IV lasers, radioactive materials and radiation producing machines under their supervision are properly disposed, removed for surplus, or transferred to another Texas State lab.
